Construction, reconstruction and adjustment of the rainwater drainage system to climate changes in the city of Bydgoszcz
On 30 October 2018, the Consortium of IDS-BUD S.A. and DIM CONSTRUCTION Sp. z o.o. signed a contract on the Design and performance of construction and installation works and commissioning within a project constituting a contract called “Construction, reconstruction and adjustment of the rainwater drainage system to climate changes in the city of Bydgoszcz. Construction and reconstruction. Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.”.
The investor is Miejskie Wodociągi i Kanalizacja w Bydgoszczy Sp. z o.o. (Municipal Waterworks and Sewage in Bydgoszcz).
The commission is financed from public funds (including the funds from the Cohesion Fund).
The scope of the commission includes the design and implementation of a rainwater drainage system throughout the city of Bydgoszcz, which will involve, apart from the construction of new channels and installations, also the reconstruction of the existing structures, and which will fulfil the following purposes:
- Limiting the consequences of extreme meteorological phenomena,
- Minimising the flooding in buildings and in the streets,
- Protecting the river waters by limiting the negative, uncontrolled rainwater flow to Brda and Vistula,
- Improving the rainwater drainage system by reconstructing the existing structures which are in poor technical condition, considering the climate change – heavy rainfall,
- Retaining rainwater in retention tanks,
- Using rainwater for the irrigation of green spaces during dry periods,
- Ensuring the quality of rainwater and snowmelt water in the tanks, to comply with the requirements set out in the Polish law,
- Using natural water reservoirs in the rainwater drainage system.
The Contract includes, according to the contract documentation, the design studies and development work of the following structures:
- Sanitary gravitational sewagesystem – approx. 18 km,
- Pressure pipes – approx. 1 km,
- Airtight retention tanks – 71 units, (including 35 pressure tanks),
- Adaptation of water ponds – 11 units,
- Open infiltration tank – 1 unit,
- Retention tanks with infiltration boxes – 4 units,
- Rainwater and snowmelt water treatment plants, including:
- Separators integrated with a sedimentation tank – 5 units,
- Hydrocarbon separators – 15 units,
- Settling tanks – 15 units,
- Type-1 waste treatment systems – 7 units,
- Type-2 waste treatment systems – 1 unit,
- Hydrophyte system structures,
- Japanese garden-style floodgate – 5 units,
- Irrigation system for green spaces – 2 units,
- Tank outlets – 20 units,
- Depressurisation of the existing surface – 2,116 m2.
Obtaining the expected results should be based on the high quality of the implemented technology and equipment, while minimizing operating costs.
